Review of The Door in the Floor (2004) by Taryn G — 30 Dec 2007
Jeff Bridges is perfect as Ted Cole. Kim is a mesmerizing Marion. Jon Foster does a fine job as Eddie.
This was moving in a way difficult to describe. Exuded conflict, heartache, and tension. Characters are flawed and complex.
I especially liked the connection between the children's book and the story. The scenes of Jeff (Ted) running from the angry Mrs. Vaughn are funny.
This story depicts how some deal with immense loss. Sometimes you just have to do whatever you can in order to carry on with life.
Even though Ted has many flaws, I couldn't help but love him. Marion comes off as ice cold, yet I couldn't dislike her.
A gem for those who are interested in a good story with emotional substance. The music is eery.
Amusing quote:
Ruth: Your penis looks funny.
Ted: My penis *is* funny.
