Review of The Doom Generation (1995) by Starrysparkles — 31 Dec 2008
Mid 90's nihilism just doesn't hold up well (another example is natural born killers). there were quite a few nihilistic road movies made around this time (before the tech boom of the late 90's).
maybe when this movie came out it was provocative but 12 years later it's a bit flat. i'm not sure what the point of the movie was. I think the fact that they could barely stretch this to 75mins says something about the lack of substance in the movie.
the movie focuses on a teen couple that gets involved with a mysterious young man who apparently just wants to get a threesome going. sport sex, mindless violence, junk food, the reoccurrence of 666 throughout the movie, the girl continually mistaken for someone else.
.. that's about all there is to it except for the changes of location.
