Review of The Doom Generation (1995) by Livy D — 14 Jul 2009
A journey through Hell that ranks with the best of them. Araki shows his admiration for director Godard's "Weekend", bringing a modern feel to the themes and issues explored therein, such as identity, lust (for both flesh and blood), persecution and love.
Controversial, daring and bold, the film wonderfully captures teens fears and anxieties, while demonstrating how they cope. The behavior shown and described throughout is reckless and perverse, as the film ends however, it becomes clear that the characters have grown-up, albeit perhaps too late.
