The Doom Generation is an amazing film by Gregg Araki. There are cameos by Parker Posey & Perry Farrell. The fantastic soundtrack is almost constant throughout the whole film and plays as an important part in the film almost as much as the three characters focused on.

The story is starts out about two teens Amy, the pessimistic speed freak played by Rose McGowan, and her stoner pacifist boyfriend Jordan White played by James Duval. While on their road trip they are "saved" by bad boy Xavier Red played by Jonathan Schaech.

The threesome then continue on the road and become a strange love triangle. From motel to motel and gas station to fast food place there are many incidents of mistaken identity and crazy deadly violence which push the plot along from one sex scene to the next.

Many times throughout the film there are signs of an upcoming apocalypse and most everything is distorted into pop art and symbols which depict the indescribable desperation, fear, and angst the characters deal with and believe to naturally rest within them.

Watching this film draws you into it and the complacent pessimism of the 1990's and you are left feeling unsettled which perfectly captures the characters feelings and the era itself. The Doom Generation is a wonderful work of art and the vocabulary throughout the film though vulgar and stinted adds to the beauty of the film and the characters in it.
