Review of The Diving Bell and the Butterfly (2007) by Kylie M — 25 May 2009
First, an amazing story. Second, a beautiful work of film. Without gore, the film manages to convey the helplessness associated with being cared for in the hospital. The director manages to make a "cool concept" (like having the lens only reveal what the character can see for much of the film) without overkilling the idea or making it annoying.
Finally, the feelings and emotions of this film are still captured and portrayed in an accessible manner without being dramatic or sappy. Easily the best film I've seen in years.
