Review of The Diving Bell and the Butterfly (2007) by Srikanth V — 09 Jan 2010
This film is poignant and touching. It's beautifully acted and exquisitely filmed. Jean-Dominique Bauby was a successful, famous editor who had it all. A stroke abruptly took nearly everything - but the little that was left was what mattered most.
Before the stroke, he had a book contract. He was going to write a modernized version of The Count of Monte Cristo, with the main character being female. The irony is inescapable, and so is the depth of feeling one experiences while watching this move.
