Review of The Diving Bell and the Butterfly (2007) by John M — 29 Mar 2010
Unexpected and beautiful, I didn't even realize it was a true story until the end. His determination to write his book is inspiring, and a little shaming to us would-be writers who get distracted by trivia.
The hero unashamedly shows his flaws, as well, his one working eye lingering on the breasts of the women helping him, and having his wife relay love messages between himself and his mistress. But ... was it just me, or did anyone else spend much of the time during the spelling sequences thinking, "morse code, for the love of God"?
