Review of The Diving Bell and the Butterfly (2007) by Kunal S — 13 Dec 2011
Sad and scary. As if there weren't enough problems we humans have to worry about, the fact that someone can literally be trapped in their own body is pretty horrifying. And that's exactly what happens to Jean-Dominique Bauby who, after having a stroke, is left with a fully functional mind but a paralyzed body and face save for a single eye.
The struggles of a man with locked-in syndrome is captured quite effectively with a wonderful performance and solid cinematography. One of the best films of 2007.
