Review of The Diving Bell and the Butterfly (2007) by Todd W — 17 Dec 2011
Julian Schnabel is a genius, flat out! The screenplay calls for almost half the movie to be told through a character's eye, most directors would fire there agent for letting them read something like that.
The camera work and Cinematography tell this story, they're the character and his imagination. The story is both depressing and uplifting at the same time. I felt that the screenplay held this back from being a truly great film but the performances, direction and cinematography were on another level occupied by few.
