Review of The Discovery (2017) by Huxley E — 06 Apr 2017
Barely passes as a film. Could look neato in a music video interpolation about 'life life - after death baby' but the premise is cliche, the acting SUCKS , is dull LIFELESS and the actors just talk like they dont' care to be acting.
Robert Redford might be the only interesting part of this for reasons that reflect his acting ability and the fact he's acting like a pig headed baby boomer who just won't let go even if it means destroying all and everything decent.
So he get's an A on portraying that. The story is as old as the hills and when they hook up the first dead guy and the video starts showing up on the screen..it falls apart big time because our vision is not like a video camera AT ALL.
It shows a video of a guy driving down a rainy road and it's shaking all over the place, narrow field of view (NTSC) and like I said SHAKING - but in reality our heads are naturally very stable when we do things like drive a car, ride a horse, ect - so it would be more like a steadicam effect.
Things shaking around but head fixed position - just watch those 'go pro' helmet cam vids for what it's really like at least in terms of stability of head. Waste of time ultimately.
