Review of The Disaster Artist (2017) by Thomas W — 26 Dec 2017
I have not laughed so hard in a long time. I am also surprised to see such a tragic backstory that doesn't fall into depressive or edgy. I would recommend people watch The Room before watching this film, but its not mandatory.
And despite the chaos and literal insanity, Tommy is a surprisingly sympathetic character who shifts back and forth from friend to 'Frankenstein villain': it would be so easy for his depiction to be only a clown or only that spiteful weirdo, but the filmmakers respected the complexity of the real life story.
