Review of The Disaster Artist (2017) by Dawdlingpoet — 27 Nov 2021
I should start out by saying that I didn't know the story its based on, so it was all new to me. Its a strange, quirky film about the filming of a strange, quirky film and featuring a, you guessed it, somewhat strange, quirky main character.
I'm not sure what to make of it, other than it being a strange tale of eccentricity, there obviously being a somewhat cheesy theme, or undercurrent, of chasing after your dream, having self belief enough to convince yourself you'll achieve what you want.
Yadda yadda. Its not an awful film (that'd be too ironic somehow), its a cringe-y film about a cringe-y story ultimately, I suppose and I feel I wasn't the ideal viewer for it as I really had no idea about the story it was portraying but it was interesting never the less.
I wouldn't expressly recommend this film as such to others though, no.
