Review of The Disaster Artist (2017) by Codynewlon — 03 Aug 2018
James Franco's spot on performance of writer, director and producer Tommy Wiseau was one of few aspects of the film that were really keeping me engaged and motivated to stay with the story. Yes, the side by side comparison scenes from The Room were well done and fun to watch, but still felt like it was lacking in style and substance (and originality).
The whole copy and paste just wasn't doing it for me. I might as well should just be watching The Room instead. At times it felt the film was relying too much on the funny moments from The Room that everyone was familiar with to really get a reaction out of the audience.
They didn't have their own humor. If I wasn't already familiar with the source material I probably wouldn't have spent the time watching this movie. I would recommend this movie if you're already familiar with The Room, but if not, just watch The Room.
What do I know, this is just my opinion.
