Review of The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby: Them (2014) by Esteban G — 01 Feb 2015
With phenomenal performance from James McAvoy and of course terrific Jessica Chastain, some very romantic and warm sequences, great ending, nicely developed characters and very interesting premise and execution, The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby is certainly an interesting experience, but it is also too depressing and quite uneven.
Him is possibly better because it is not that gloomy, while Her is too melodramatic and sorrowful in tone, but is elevated by Chastain's magnificent performance. It is a solid effort, but the one which does not have a clear narrative goal and is too depressing in tone.
