Quite possibly my all time favourite war movie. What an amazing cast! Love the dialogue and the story. I know there are better films made about WWII but this one has a sense of humour as well as a sense of the horror and depravity of war.
It doesn't paint war as all horror. It's just a view into the lives of this group of people at this particular time. I love how we feel for each sympathetic character after only a few minutes of watching the film.
This is great film making at its best.
