Review of The Dirty Dozen (1967) by Charlie S — 01 Apr 2012
Dirty Dozen doesn't have powerful enough message to be considered a war film, and it doesn't have enough action to be considered an action movie. It falls into some kind of strange in-between - Much like Inglourious Basterds, which borrows heavily Dirty Dozen.
The film is about an unorthodox Major who is ordered to train a rag-tag group of twelve soldier/convicts to go behind enemy lines and kill high ranking German officers. It's a very entertaining film.
At a running time of 2hrs 30min, it goes by incredibly fast. It has a great cast and engaging characters and fun situations that occur between the convicts and officers. It's a classic.
