Delicately acted and ferociously directed, I didn't love this one but compared to the filmmaker's previous film the underwhelming Rampart, The Dinner is good, or at the very least satisfying. However, I have a sneaking suspicion this cinematic adaptation did not do its literary source material justice, but then I haven't read it.
