Review of The Dinner (2017) by Dr Ann L — 08 May 2017
A near miss, maybe worth seeing for the morality play if not the stars at work here. But a politician with a conscience, putting principles above career? Maybe this should be billed as science fiction.
Too many missed opportunities, odd directing decisions (he's obviously obsessed with the Battle of Gettysburg), too many flashbacks of marginally relevant significance, the food porn promised wouldn't make a quickie commercial on the Food Network, too much Coogan monologue (and dialogue, come to think of it.
) In defter hands this could have been quite the arthouse darling.
