Review of The Diary of a Teenage Girl (2015) by Larry R — 29 Aug 2015
There really is a whole lot of skin action going on but the movie isn't afraid of being open about puberty, sexual awakening, and what a young girl goes through from self-expression growing up.
Minnie is becoming her own in the world and she wants to feel like a grown-up as much as she can.
What is it actually like being a young adult having these changes happening and whats the most important thing at the time?
Does a woman need a man to be happy, touching or most of all love?
Looking into her subconscious is also a nice visual metaphor for how she's feeling and what the world is like to her own eyes.
Kristen Wiig, Christopher Meloni, and Alexander Skarsgard play dynamic supporting characters shaping who Minnie actually wants to be and avoid being.
