Review of The Devil's Rejects (2005) by Dan L — 12 Aug 2010
This movie is like taking the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre, adding Tarantino-esque cast types with a Pulp Fiction feel, and then amplifying it all with an acid-Charlie Manson blood bath.
So in part, Rob Zombie "borrows" some ingredients here including Texas settings, 1970's era with soundtrack, and super inbred carachters but...the movie still is something one can't turn away from despite searing madness and realistic gore.
The news papers are filled with these stories and you basically get a feel for what it must be like to be around such depraved evil.
Tyler Mane to me, although uncredited in the role as Rufus, is THE best part of the entire movie. Great cast.
A budget of $7 million is insane as to what they pulled off with this movie.
The movie is almost too horrific to add to my BluRay library but...if I ever see it cheap...who knows?
;p.
