Review of The Devil's Own (1997) by Jenny Q — 30 May 2008
A very enjoyable film about IRA/US relations in the early 90s. It seems a little odd in retrospect but the film rings true.
Brad Pitt does well to balance a fantastic character actor display here with "movie star" duties. Pakula's camera lingers ever so slightly too long on Pitts intense eyes and "Oirsh" emotions.
Its fun to watch Ford also try to carry the film. There's almost a tug of war going on between the two actors. Clearly they're not the best of friends.
