Review of The Devil's Own (1997) by Aj R — 26 Feb 2012
To begin with, many reviews criticise Pitts "Irish" accent in this film and say it's terrible. They are idiots, in this he is from Northern Ireland,my home, which has completely different dialect. Pitt nails the accent.
As for the political aspect - it's glossed over to make a dumb American thriller. A more troubling matter is that the IRA terrorists in this movie are represented as repressed freedom fighters fighting a just war. This is so misguided it's damn right offensive to somebody who has witnessed the "troubles" in Northern Ireland.
