Review of The Devil's Eye (1960) by Joanna R — 20 Jan 2009
Theatrical and charming. A small farse by Bergman, who is still in his directing period at The Royal Dramatic Theater and before he has lost his faith in God, it might seem. The seventh seal deals with the same themes, but in a less light-hearted and optimistic way.
The narrator was a bit annoying and some of the actors indulge in overacting, but non the less, it is funny to see Bergman like this, frivolous, witty and with an eye for pastiche.
