Review of The Devil's Eye (1960) by Andrew B — 31 Jan 2010
I love how Bergman can always effectively make the bleaker side of life either funny or tragic depending on his mood (and considering how he made "The Virgin Spring" the same year). Though this dark romantic comedy is still considered "minor Bergman" by many, it's still loads of fun.
The cast and set design are very fun to watch (especially the chemistry and the design for hell), and there's a light-hearted charm that seeps through this fantastical tale that deals with serious and dark issues under the surface.
