Review of The Devil's Chair (2007) by Claire P — 31 Oct 2008
Still not sure what I think about The Devil's Chair. I loved it as a concept, but as a movie, it pretty much repulsed me. This is the first movie I've seen in a while that actually made me feel dirty after watching.
The gore is awesome, the twist, although I figured it was coming about 20 minutes before it happened still managed to shock me (mostly because of the jump to the stark white room with all the blood from the dank looking monster dimension). The acting wasn't bad for the most part, but the true star of the film was the cinematography: without it, the "shock moment" probably wouldn't have been so effective.
All in all, if you don't have a weak stomach, and aren't easily offended, check this out. Its definitely an interesting experience. (It actually made me rethink my love of gore/horror movies for a couple of hours.).
