Review of The Devil's Advocate (1997) by Jonathan P — 13 Apr 2013
The Devil's Advocate is an odd mixture of horror and court room drama and strangely enough it works rather well. Pacino is brilliant as the devil/law firm president and without him The Devil's Advocate would just be an afterthought.
Keanu Reeves gives a standard Reeves performance (take that how you would like) while a young Charlize Theron keeps pace with Pacino and gives a performance that gives the viewer a glimpse of what type of actress she would become.
The finale is a bit overdone and does take a bit away from an otherwise impeccable film but even with it The Devil's Advocate mixes horror and Court Room drama together and combines the two into a movie that lovers of both genres should appreciate.
