Review of The Devil Wears Prada (2006) by Thomas W — 02 Sep 2014

Fairly ludicrous, but solidly entertaining dose of fashion porn that succeeds due to the outstanding cast and slick direction. Meryl Streep is having a ball playing the impossible-to-please "devil" but the real scene stealer is Stanley Tucci, who is always a delight on-screen! The story is fairly typical as a cautionary tale, but it paints an interesting picture of the fashion world while remaining accessible.

The real downside is the idiocy of the main character, Andy who has no backbone and keeps the WORST company around her (including her whiny boyfriend). It's not chick-flick hell as it has great eye-candy and good performances, but it's self-love of it's own satire misses the mark.
