Review of The Devil and Daniel Johnston (2006) by Joey L — 06 Jan 2009
This was a fantastic documentary about the price of brilliance and the spiritual torment of Daniel Johnston. Feuerzeig used a perfect mesh of old footage, interviews, and really impressive cinematography to tell the story of this underground legend.
I was actually blown away by the scope of the film in that it was able to delve into almost every aspect of his personal and professional life and give us true insight to the genius/madness that is Daniel Johnston.
I would recommend this to anyone interested in music or art, even if you have no idea who DJ is, you will still enjoy it.
