Review of The Devil and Daniel Johnston (2006) by Codie E — 07 Jan 2009
It's hard to seperate the documentary from Daniel Johnston himself and any opinions had on the man. Frustratingly it is therefore hard to really hold a true critical opinion but it demonstrates that a documentary can only be as good as its subject matter.
I am not a fan of Daniel Johnston's music (the odd song might be okay but they are instrumentally all the same) or artwork. But the documenatary was absorbing and entertaining. I just couldn't help but compare it to Dig! and compare my reaction to each.
