Review of The Devil All the Time (2020) by Faronlinegamers — 09 Oct 2020
The Devil All The Time: when real life, murder, corruption, religion, and growing up mixes together.
Things I like:
1. The story: the story is actually pretty good, basically it has multiple protagonist, but mainly has one focus, Tm Holland and, who plays Arvin, a kid who grows up after the death of his mother (dying from cancer), his fathers death (suicide), and his dog (shot from his father as a sacrifice to God), that's just one single story line that expands and cleverly connects with other story plots in the movie.
2. The concept: the concept is really good, and actually good for a Netflix original, which lets be honest they don't have that many good original shows/movies, the concepts is basically what if we add gore, growing up, murder, and religion into a movie while also connecting each story line together in the end?
3. The actors/cast: the cast is full of famous actors like Tom Holland and Robert Pattinso, who do fantastic jobs in a movie like this.
4. Gore: now the gore is okay, with scenes including bloody gun shots (some ”super” gory) and etc.... It's not the boys level but it's good for this type of movie.
5. Character development: now the character development is actually pretty good, the characters perfectly evolve into better characters, like tom holland, who does an excellent job with this movie, as arvin basically grows up to be able to take care of himself after the teaching of his father and the death of his sister. Things I don't like:
The short time span of “Main” characters that seem to die quickly after the movie starts, it’s good, but I would’ve liked more connection and details about them, now we do get a backstory about them like war story’s and etc... but we never really know everything about them.
