Review of The Descendants (2011) by Simon B — 01 Feb 2014
George Clooney is an actor who, for all of his good looks and charisma, rarely treads beyond snark in terms of acting. He constantly picks up ham-fisted political faire and praised for easy stances, while rarely ever going beyond "acting".
The Descendants, a particularly depressing movie about the way one man's life is rocked by one massive discovery, Clooney, for what seems like the first time, goes beyond snark and tries to be a real person.
It's refreshing, and he does undertoned emotion very well, and it makes you wish that Clooney went that far in every movie.
