Often times, we find function in our dysfunction. And that's really what "The Descendants" is about. Matt King (George Clooney) is faced with the inevitable death of his wife after she was mortally injured in a boating accident.
He is now filling both parental roles to his two daughters while trying to make a huge decision about the fate of his family's birthright - 25,000 pristine acres of Hawaiian land. "The Descendants" is a materfully told story about how a family can survive tragedy while still being witty and empowering.
Worth a watch.
