Review of The Descendants (2011) by Distant C — 24 Nov 2012
The Descendants tells the story of Matt King (George Clooney) a busy lawyer living in Hawaii whos wife is in a coma and approaching death. Matt learns that his wife had cheated on him before her coma and he tries to find the man who cheated on her while at the same time trying to come to terms with his distant family.
It's slow at times and it's not for everyone. But it's not your typical story of a screwed up family Clooney brilliantly captures the internal conflict between the anger he feels towards his wife and the sorrow of her death. This film gives a realistic portrayal of family and shows how tragedy can bring a family, no matter how screwed up, together.
