Review of The Departed (2006) by Alex S — 08 Aug 2013
To state it plainly, The Departed is the greatest movie of all time. In a genre filled with great movies (Goodfellas, The Godfather), The Departed rises above all of those by using actors that not only live up to their name, but surpass it.
By far the greatest acting jobs of every big name star in here. The script is excellent if you are able to look past the frequent profanity. It begs the question: Do morals really mean anything if we all end up the same in the end? Whether we fight for good or commit pure evil, nothing is going to save us from the unavoidable end, which is death.
Taking all that in mind, perhaps, the best aspect of this movie is how realistic Martin Scorsese makes it feel. The audience is fully engaged the entire time. The greatest film of all time!
