Review of The Departed (2006) by Ash C — 27 Dec 2013
Martin Scorsese is undeniable the best director working today, and in my opinion, of all time. This film feels gritty and real, the viewer feels as though they have assumed the role that is masterfully performed by the consistently phenomenal Leo DiCaprio.
Yet another Oscar snub. Jack Nicholson shreds it as the horrendous mob boss and Matt Damon is a powerhouse as the snitch. Other honourable mentions include Mark Wahlberg's outrageously funny Staff Sergeant Dignam, Martin Sheen's professional police captain, Vera Farmiga's excellent portrayal of the Psychologist and Alec Baldwin's hilarious nutcase character.
5 stars in every category, this film cannot disappoint.
