Review of The Departed (2006) by Connor C — 14 Feb 2015
From the cinematography and direction to the fact that it is simply an amazing film, The Departed shows a gritty, realistic look to the Irish mob, the hardships of undercover cops and how far people will really go to protect their identities and dignity.
Leonardo Dicaprio's Billy Costigan is troubled and unbridled while also being vulnerable and caring, while Matt Damon's Colin Sullivan is conniving and ruthless, but never realizes just how much he's destroyed in his life to be considered a good man.
The supporting cast members of Vera Farmiga, Martin Sheen, Alec Baldwin, Jack Nicholson at his most ruthless and controlling, and Mark Wahlberg at his peak which, in my opinion, has yet to surpass.
