Review of The Departed (2006) by Stewart F — 17 Dec 2017
Scorsese tells a story so tensely and impeccably that even knowing the twists and turns beforehand, I was glued to the screen. As every story point unfolds and every quiet phone call plays out, it is clear why this film finally got the master his Best Picture win.
But Scorsese isn't the only powerhouse in this film. Nicholson and Dicaprio are both incredible (as expected) but Damon and surprisingly Wahlberg hold there own on screen making this a true masterclass in ensemble filmmaking.
Exciting, tense, humorous, and dangerous, The Departed is a huge win.
