Review of The Departed (2006) by Luis B — 31 Jan 2015
The Departed is not a a tale of morality; it is an amazing and purposely morally-contrived film that allows the audience to get to the core of its characters with a simple look of their actions. Billy's vulnerability is evidenced in his sudden violent outrages, Colin's vile nature is shown in his glances at Madolyn (I mean was he actually sorry? It didn't look like it) and Frank's caring side is exposed in his exchanges with Gwen.
You will not know who to root for and might be disappointed by how it all turns out, but could it actually end in any other way?
