Review of The Delta Force (1986) by Ola G — 18 May 2015
It's absolutely hilarious and nearly appalling how this film goes from being a rather serious film dealing with terrorists that hijack a plane and the process of the military and U.S. government dealing with tackling the issue, TO just saying fuck it to any consideration of using unnecessary force and just gunning down a bunch of Israel enemies like some shoot 'em up movie.
The last hour really acts in vain of the "Fuck yeah, America!" attitude as Chuck Norris and the delta force use highly unrealistic means of taking out the Israel enemies, not to mention Alan Silvestri's nice composition of synth score being too heroic and catchy for a film that's dealing with the war on terrorists.
Because of all of this, the subject matter is taken so lightly that all care for any causes are surrendered to bullets and explosions. This will sound like the worst excuse, but only in the 80's can you barely get away with this crap! I had a good laugh seeing the film transition itself the way it did, and Chuck Norris blasting enemies with a rocket motorcycle is just stupidly cool, but the film contradicts itself and it isn't paced well, so I can only recommend it for those who want to see Norris kick ass, but you better just skip to the last half of the film for that.
