Where Do I Begin....

Well please take into consideration that this was one of the first movies on the Vietnam War, Platoon & Full Metal Jacket were years later... that said take into consideration how controversial this film must have been being released just 3 years after the war.

Another thing I gotta make poignant is the many people i've asked who have seen this movie say one thing only... "Depressing".

True though this film is, It's subtle beauty is remarkable and is only going to come to you a few hours after watching the film when it will leave you very quiet with only your thoughts....

Well this movie is widely regarded as one of American Cinema's greatest film acheivements right up there with "The Godfather" and me taking so very long to see this movie (I'm now 19) it has really left it's mark on me when I come to see movies with extroadinary subtle themes...

As said earlier, don't come looking for "Platoon" or "Full Metal Jacket", this War Drama is about the Consequences and after effects War has on the Mind and the Physical and Spiritual Wounds given to these 3 friends (Robert De Niro, Christopher Walken and John Savage), all of which suffer there own personal hell.

Analysts have seen the movie as a 3-Act movie, The first is the small town community enjoying the wedding celebrations and bidding farewell to their friends who signed up for war, The second is the Friends in Conflict and Battle as well as P.O.W's forced to play Russian Roulette (these scene's are brutal and have been hailed as a metaphor for The Entire War), Finally the third act the effects it has had on everyone including the small Pittsburgh Community with an Ending so downright cruel in someways, it becomes something so incredible I don't think I could write it down in this review, it's unexplainable.

The Performances are Incredible, Robert De Niro is in his prime, as always my favourite actor just keeps getting better with every movie I watch,Christopher Walken is incredible and gives an Oscar performance way beyond that achievemnt of merit & Meryl Streep I really cared for surprisingly, i'm not saying I don't love Meryl Streep I think she's an incredible Actress, i'm saying it's surprisingly well done how all three actors work around this 3 way love triangle that really works for the aiding of the deepness of these characters...

Final Verdict: Overall This film isn't a film, it's an experience... One I think everyone should have to experience sometime in their life, After everything I have wrote, after all the horror and wonder you experience.

I still find this movie... Unexplainable.
