Review of The Deer Hunter (1978) by Andy C — 07 May 2011
It's very long and slow to get going with the first hour of the film being devoted to character building and the attendance of a wedding.
The latter part of the film is very depressing for a variety of reasons and the exploration of the aftermath of the war on those who survived and the Russian roulette scenes are some of the most intense I've watched in any film.
All in all depressing, but interesting and could stand some cutting to make it more suitable for watching casually.
