Review of The Deer Hunter (1978) by Scott M — 08 Jul 2011
I think some of its salience as a film has obviously been lost in the passage of time, but still well-crafted characters and an incredible story. I was distracted by some of the cinematography and performances, but on the whole the characters were believable and genuine and the movie flowed well (if slowly).
It was refreshing to watch a film that took the time to tell the story properly compared to so many contemporary bite-sized easily-digestible cliches that modern hollywood seems to produce.
