Review of The Deer Hunter (1978) by Matt R — 13 Jul 2015
-IGNORE THIS "OUT OF FIVE" RATING.
4/4.
Staggering war film detailing three friend's experiences in Vietnam, and its effect on their lives when they return home. An extraordinarily searing, often painful look at friendship, love, and of course the absolute horrors of war, that's never been captured on film more brutally and convincingly. An emotional powerhouse, with some of the most emotionally shattering, and intense scenes ever filmed. Christopher Walken, along with Micheal Cimino's direction won richly deserved Academy Awards. The most powerful of all war films. Other Oscars for Best Picture, Editing, and Sound.
