Review of The Deer Hunter (1978) by Dave W — 17 Feb 2016
The Deer Hunter is to be acknowledged for its ground breaking content and stellar acting performances. It signaled a turning point in modern cinema. However the territory covered is so biased and lacking in accurate historical context as to render any deeper meaning irrelevant.
The immense acting talent on display is unfortunately subsumed by the overwhelming ego of Director Michael Cimino. 2 stars.
