Review of The Deep Blue Sea (2011) by Paolo R — 10 Nov 2011
A bit like the recent Tinker, this is an exercise in perfect period creation... there is great beauty in the attention to detail and look and feel. But, like many a theatrical adaptation, the stage is not the screen, and so the play's dynamics drive the scenes.
Actors do justice to the words. Terence Davies is always in control and the direction is faultless. Could be another Kings Speech... if it wasn't for the pervading melancholic tone.
