Review of The Deep Blue Sea (1994) by Wayne S — 12 Nov 2012
I'd give it five stars just for Rachel Weisz's performance alone. The setting, the period, the soft focus, the swelling music (borderline over the top), the cigarette smoke... this feels like it was made 60 years ago.
It is overly symbolic but surprisingly enough story and details are vague, including characters who are inherently flawed. A dark and sombre tale of unrequited love. I'll type more laters and perhaps settle on an appropriate rating (given my current streak, you may not be surprised).
