Review of The Death of Mr. Lazarescu (2005) by Sergio M — 17 Nov 2010
I loved it, but whoever described it as a COMIC masterpiece is the biggest sadist in the world. it's true that you accasionally chuckle at the grumpiness of some characters, especially at the beginning, but as the film goes on and you see the desperation of it all, how this man needs to be operated on and no-one wants or is able to do it, your smile kind of freezes and you start thinking about how the elderly are treated in hospitals, how lonely some people live, how dependant they are and still have no-one.
.. I can't understand how someone can describe this as comic. but excellent performances, especially by the main two characters, and some really beautiful shots. a fantastic movie.
