Review of The Dead Zone (1983) by Mattias J — 15 Aug 2009
I decided to watch this movie after becoming a fan of the tv show. Saying that I kept comparing and contrasting where the story went so I am looking at this from a different angle then from someone who knew nothing about it. Saying that, it is a pretty good movie, I have always loved Christopher Walken as an actor, he has great screen presence and I love the way he talks. His version of Johnny Smith is very good and although this is not an amazing movie, it is good and pretty solid overall. It did feel kinda rushed, but then again, I am used to watching the tv show which spread out this same story over 6 seasons, so that might also be part of the problem. So overall, its a good movie with a important message for politicans, never use a toddler as a human sheild, its bad for your image.
On a side note, I find it funny that this movie has a little real life foreshadowing for two of the actors. Walken's character mentions Legend of Sleepy Hollow 2 times in the movie, and then later played the headless horseman in the Tim Burton version of the film. And Martin Sheen's character talks about being destin to be the president, and then later played the president for 7 season on the West Wing. I just found it interesting, thats all I am saying.
