Review of The Dead Zone (1983) by Jake B — 24 May 2010
Cronenberg channels Hitchcock like Johnny channels prophecies: idiot cops, Catholic imagery, color symbolism, slow-boiler tension, and a plot really about a love triangle. I swear the end feels like and homages the second 'Man Who Knew Too Much' (get it?).
All of this is good, though. Despite some stilted dialogue in places this is the best of all possible creative worlds.
