Review of The Dead Zone (1983) by Bryan W — 15 Aug 2010
Another direct hit for Cronenberg, and the film where he proved that he could handle a straight narrative without a gross-out crutch. This was the final piece of the puzzle before he was able to make his masterpiece.
While most King adaptations either stray too far from the material or stay too close to matter when transferred to the screen, Cronenberg's touch as an artist strengthens the original story with style and kineticism.
